As a young girl, I remember my mom trying to teach me piano and giving up when I adamantly refused to be taught. When I was 12, I picked up one of my old piano books and started reading (I must have run out of all other reading material). A few pages in, I was making music and seriously hooked.

I soon began accompanying my sisters who were always doing something with our school choir, playing piano solos in church, and even arranging and composing accompaniments to my mother’s melodies.

On my LDS mission to Salt Lake City, Utah, I accompanied our mission choir under the direction of Marshall McDonald who, among other things, is known for working with the Piano Guys. Later, at Brigham Young University – Idaho, I worked at a local piano studio and minored in piano pedagogy.

Since graduating, I’ve lived in Chicago, married an Arizona boy, and moved here to Surprise. Besides teaching piano, I also taught ESL for 4 years where I learned many techniques and strategies I still use today.

Along with playing piano, I love hiking, reading, and creating art.
